Mould can become a prevalent issue during colder months, with the increase in moisture and reduced sunlight creating ideal conditions for its growth and production. UTILISE YOUR RANGE/EXHAUST HOOD IN YOUR KITCHEN
If you have a ducted or ductless range/exhaust hood in your kitchen, it is recommended to use it every time you’re cooking on the stove. If you don’t have one, exhaust fans are an investment that could positively impact your health and aid in the fight against mould in your home.

DRY WET AREAS IMMEDIATELY
Without moisture, mould can’t grow, so it’s best to treat wet areas as soon as possible. If you’ve experienced any flooding, or burst water pipes, remove all furniture, bedding and carpets if they can’t be completely dried.

WIPE AWAY MOISTURE
From windows, walls and near taps. Keep bathroom walls, showers, shower curtains, bathtubs and basins as dry as possible.
Installing an exhaust fan is an excellent option for mould prevention in the bathroom, as it will help circulate the air cand remove moisture quickly and effectively.

AVOID AIR DRYING CLOTHES INDOORS, OUTSIDE IS ALWAYS BETTER
It is best to dry your clothes outside, but if you need to dry them indoor, do so in a well-ventilated area inside. Make sure they are dry before putting them away and leave your wardrobe doors open where possible.

CLEAN CARPETS AND RUGS REGULARLY USING WELL FILTERED VACCUM CLEANER
Mould uses organic matter, such as dust or dead skin cells to thrive, so it’s important to vacuum and dust regularly.

GET MOISTURE ABSORBERS
There are all sorts of handy products that work to absorb moisture from the air and help prevent mould. Moisture absorbers naturally absorbs excess moisture and maintains a healthy humidity level in your home. Many of these products are made to last for up to 60 days and refills are available.

CHECK YOUR GUTTERS
If your gutters are full of leaves or damaged, it can lead to leaks in your roof. This is a major cause of mould build up in the home and the best way to avoid this is to make sure you always clean your gutters and check them for damage after the summer months.

MOULD SPRAYS
There is various sprays you can purchase from local hardware shops. These sprays kill mould and the mould spores that cause regrowth. They can also be used outside on roofs, gutters, tiles, concrete pavers, blocks and brickwork.
