Taigum is a residential suburb to the west of Boondall in Brisbane’s north, bordered on its west and north sides by Cabbage Tree Creek, and on its southern border by Beams Road in Zillmere.

The name ‘Taigum’ is thought to originate from the local aboriginal word for lawyer cane, a plant which grew abundantly in the area and was used to make cane basket. Originally known as Zillmere North, the suburb’s name was formally changed to Taigum in 1993.

The Taigum area began to be developed for residential housing in the 1970’s, firstly around the Rogham Road/Muller Road intersection. Today, the area is well supplied with a discount department store, supermarkets and many speciality shops.
