A growing suburb of the Gold Coast, Coomera (4209) is currently home to more than 8,500 people. Situated next to the Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the suburb is close to Pimpama, Hope Island, Willow Vale, Wongawallan, Oxenford, and east of Upper Coomera.
The name Coomera comes from the local aboriginal word kumera, which means a species of wattle. Beginning in the 1860’s, the Coomera agricultural reserve produced many crops including potatoes, sugar, and maize. Timber used for building was also rafted down the Coomera River at around this time.
